The Top 20 Stationery Blogs

Top 20 Stationery Blogs

I love learning about new and interesting pens and notebooks, and I use the following sites to find some amazing materials. I personally believe the blog is a medium designed perfectly for stationery reviews. The blending of analog and digital tools these writers use to tell stories is a great way to see and read about the tools we use every day.

The Pen Addict

If you type in the name of any pen, I bet this is the first site that comes up. Brad Dowdy is the ‘King of Pen’ and has been blogging about pens, notebooks, and pencils for over a decade. He co-hosts a podcast by the same name with Myke Hurley and together they keep us all up to date on a weekly basis of the pen news we crave. Cheers to you Brad!

The Well Appointed Desk

Ana Reinert is a designer at Hallmark and runs an artistic blog reviewing all things great in the world of stationery. She is always exploring new pens and paper, but also branches out into vintage tools like typewriters. She is an incredible artist and her blog showcases her work with style, color, and well-written articles. One of my favorite writers for her blog is Tina Koyama who also has her own blog seen later in this list, Fueled by Clouds and Coffee.

The Clicky Post

Mike Dudek has got an incredible eye for product photography. Along side his in-depth style of reviews are some of the best pen photographs I have ever seen. He tends to go deep into specific pen and pencil categories to learn as much as possible about one type of writing tool and we all get to benefit from his work. He has recently gotten into watches and I love his Instagram feed! He also creates beautiful pen blocks in his woodworking shop that are only for sale a few times a year.

The Gentleman Stationer

Joe has a history of reviewing only fountain pens but has branched out into pencils and notebooks which make his site a very well rounded review site. He focuses a lot on the history and story of the items he is reviewing. He is well known in the pen shows and has a great wealth of knowledge to share!

Fueled by Clouds and Coffee

Tina is my hero. Her writing is so uplifting and positive that in times of great stress, her style is a refreshing reminder about why I like this hobby. I hope to meet her in person one day. She introduced me to urban sketching from the Field Nuts Facebook group and I have always looked forward to seeing the world through her captivating sketches.

The JetPens Blog

While I know this is a little too close of a marketing strategy for some, I really like the guides they put together. The photography and pen testing give some good insight into how the pens and paper will perform in real life.

Notebook Stories

This is all things notebooks. Nifty does some quality reviews on nearly every-single-notebook-ever-created. I get emails about new posts so often that I have given up trying to read them all! However, I never skip the books from famous figures with pictures of the actual notebooks.

Goulet Pens Blog

Brian Goulet started out with the best pen reviews and how-to videos on youtube, and together with his wife Rachel, built an incredible company to back up their love of fountain pens. The blog showcases the amazing pens they sell and includes details to help with purchasing. Sidenote - If I had to do it all over again, I would do anything I could to work here!

Rediscover Analog

This is currently a personal blog from writer Jestine who focuses on Bullet Journaling, fountain pens and photography. She has a great instagram account where she showcases her incredible handwriting and photography skills.

Mountain of Ink

Kelli uses a small variety of pens to show off all the different kinds of fountain pen ink. She has a well-organized site and some great photography of her well-written ink samples. She is the go-to source for ink info!

Pencil Revolution!

Johnny from the Erasables Podcast keeps us all up to date on pencils and his clean blog format is easy to enjoy. He is also my favorite of the trio :)

Polar Pencil Pusher

This is not just another wordpress blog. Jesse has a refreshing lightness to his writing and sprinkles in the Alaskan environment into his imagery. I just started reading here but have enjoyed the reviews for the well-lit photography and new insights into pencils.

Fountain Pen Love

This blog raises the bar on quality. John does a fantastic job and has an obvious knowledge of the subject matter. His photography is professional and the materials he reviews is unique.

Gourmet Pens

For the past 10 years, Azazih has kept up with the latest fountain pens and paper reviews. She is unstoppable! If you are looking for color and artistic style, this is the place to visit!

Anderson Pens Blog

Together with a podcast, this is an entertaining and informative look at the news in fountain pens and good quality paper. My favorite part of this blog are the artistic ink test sheets that Chris does.

From the Pen Cup

So.Many.Blog.Posts! Mary has been doing this since 2012 and has offers some of the best recommendations.

The Pen Habit

While John is no longer reviewing pens, he does still have a great blog and youtube channel online. He is well known in the pen community and you can find his old videos Here.
